Tipperary...Fri 13th June...Thurles 7km Road Race

The 'Dave Fogarty' 7km road race take place in Thurles next Friday evening at 8pm. It is organised by Thurles Crokes Athletic Club.
For anyone coming from the South, Thurles is just a few kms off the main Cork to Dublin road. The turn off is at the 'Horse and Jockey' on the main road.

Additional Information...
"The Dave Fogarty memorial race which was run as a 5k race for many years to commemorate one of Tipperary finest athletes and contributors to the sport has been changed to a 7k race for safely reasons to avoid the main road. This will be the third year running the 7k course (pbs for everyone doing the new distance!!). Starting and finishing at the clubhouse, the race does a loop around by a local road luke. The first kilometre is flat enough with a gradual rise as you hit the second kilometre where it rises slowly and decends very quickly before you hit the third kilometre where there is a good hill for about 150m where it decends for another 200m and then flat all the way with one small rise before you hit the the main road with a kilometer to go.
Last years race was won by our own Christopher Bracken (23:15 first Irishman home in the All Ireland Novice Last yr)
Entry? not a 100% either €8 or €10 ! 8 euro most likely going on all county Tipperary races this year.
Prizes? Usual category prizes... we have first 6 womans prizes, first 5 mens prizes, 2 O/40, 2 O/45 1 O/50, 1 O/55, 1 O/60
We also have in addition to that 3 Junior boys and 3 junior girl prizes so juniors very welcome.
There will also be spot prizes on the night. Refreshments and prize giving are held afterward in the Sarsfield social center right at the entrance to Semple stadium, approx 3/4 mile from Thurles Croke A.C. complex.
Shower facilities should be available on the night there for anyone wishing to avail of them.....Tony Fogarty, Thurles Crokes Athletic Club"
