Killarney Adventure Race...Sat 8th Oct 2011

For those of you who want to try something different......an adventure race! There is a choice of 50 and 60 km routes and involves running on some mountain tracks, cycling on public roads and kayaking on one of Killarney's lakes.

Race Descrpition.........Entrants are transported to the start line by bus. The first stage involves running up and over Strickeen mountain and down to Kate Kearney's Cottage. From here, there is a bike ride up through the Gap of Dunloe and down into the Black Valley. From there, you climb back up to Moll's Gap and then downhill...rapidly!....to Muckross Park where the next stage begins...kayaking on Muckross Lake.

After that, you have a choice of a short hill run or the more demanding run up to Mangerton Mountain and around the Devil's Punchbowl. The highest point here is 810 metres above sea level so it's a real challenge. Back down to the park and then a short cycle to the finish.
