Notice...Annerville 10k road race, Clonmel - Sun 13th May 2018

Located in South Tipperary, this 10 km road race should be of interest to a lot of runners.

From the organisers Clonmel AC.......Annerville 10k Classic May 13th
This very popular fixture on the running calendar takes place on Sunday 13th May at 10.50am. this year we are once again delighted to have Tipperary Water as our sponsors.

This year’s event will have the same route as last year, which received great reviews, with the start at the carpark at the back of the Clonmel Arms Hotel on the Quay and the finish will be at the Sporting Press on the Davis Road. This new course is relatively flat and ideal for a PB over this Classic distance. The Race Headquarters is at Colaiste Cheitinn, the Mall and we will be taking entries there from 9 am onwards. The entry fee is 12 Euros and this year we have designed a special medallion for this event. For this event please note that there are Road Closures in place and we appreciate the cooperation of the public, especially in the Irishtown area.

Last year’s race attracted a very impressive entry of 347 athletes, the winner was Sergio Ciobanu of Clonliffe Harriers in a very impressive time of 30 mins 27 secs, with Philip Harty (Ferrybank AC) 2nd in 31 mins 59 secs and William Stephens (Coolquill AC) 3rd in 32 mins 47 secs. The top three women were 1st Carmel Fitzgibbon (Thurles Crokes) 38 mins 56 secs, 2nd Lorraine Bolster (Mallow AC) 39 mins 27secs and 3rd Aine Roche (Clonmel AC) 40 mins 4 secs. We wish Sergio the very best as he competes later this year for Ireland in the Marathon at the European Athletics Championships in Berlin in August.

This year we have an extensive prize list to the value of 1500 Euros and they are as follows: 1st 5 Senior Men, 1st 2 Men over 40, 45, 50 and 55, 1st Man over 60, 65 and 70, 1st 5 Senior Women, 1st 2 Women over 35, 40, 45, 50 and 1st Woman over 55, 60 and 65. We will also have Spot prizes for down the field finishers.

As regards entries we would appreciate it very much if local participants can come early on Sunday morning and register and help ease the rush as we get closer to the Start time. This would help athletes who have travelled a distance to enter at their ease. This year’s race will be chip timed and results will be posted on www.premiertimingsystems.ie.
